I am a professional technology executive, graphic/web designer, and photographer. I live just outside Philadelphia and work in Philadelphia's Center City.

In addition to my IT profession, I have been a semi-professional photographer for over 7 years. For me, photography is my way of slowing down and observing the world around me. My "commute-work-eat-work-commute-eat-sleep-then-repeat" daily life needs diversions... My photography & digital design is a great departure from the everyday pandemonium I willingly experience. |

When completing my Masters Degree for Media & Instructional Technology (2001), I was introduced to the world of Photoshop (version 5.5). Since then I have found the marriage of the creative with the technical to be very enticing. I embrace the digital edge Photoshop and other technologies bring to the table. I consider the photographer's tool belt more equipped... Enabling the designer to stretch their inventiveness by becoming their own image processor and custom printer. I have been an active member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) since 2007.
Many folks have their own definition of photography. To me it is a mixture of light, technical, timing, and luck. But more importantly, photography is about a vision with imagination and determination at its core.
I attempt to post a few photographs and/or designs weekly to my blog as I constantly feed my technology hunger... On occasion I will update site templates and images to keep things looking new. But as we all know there will be days and weeks where photography needs to take a back seat to other higher priorities...

I shoot a Canon EOS 5D Mk II full frame d-SLR. I use the following lens: Canon 70-200m f/2.8L, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, Canon 100-400mm f/4L. Additional gear includes: Gitzo GT1541 Mountaineer 6x Tripod.
I shoot strictly in camera RAW and use Photoshop CS4 for all post processing work while Dreamweaver CS4 is used to build this site and the other slemak.com affiliated sites. I have also used Lightroom and Photomatix on occasion.
My makeshift 14' x 11' photo studio consists of two
Britek HS-200 440w/s strobes, two 32" x 32" soft boxes and a few 10' x 24' muslin backdrops. |
